Injecting synovial fluid into the knee joint.

This involves injecting a substance that mimics synovial fluid into the knee joint to help lubricate, reduce friction, and lessen inflammation or pain in the joint, especially in patients with osteoarthritis.

What substances are used for injection?

1. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) – The main ingredient in joint fluid injections.

- It is a substance that is naturally present in joint fluid.

- Helps lubricate the knee joint and reduce impact.

- Suitable for patients with early to moderate knee osteoarthritis.

2. Steroids – In some cases, they are used to reduce inflammation.

- Helps reduce swelling and acute pain.

- Frequent injections are not recommended because they may accelerate joint degeneration.

3. Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) – This method uses the patient's own blood, which is then centrifuged to separate the platelets.

- Contains substances that help regenerate tissue and reduce inflammation.

- Still in the research phase, but shows promising signs for those who prefer not to undergo surgery.

Who is knee joint fluid injection suitable for?

People with early-stage osteoarthritis of the knee, or those with severe osteoarthritis who are unable to receive other forms of treatment.
